Vantage Point

While we are in a holding pattern right now living with Kimmel's parents and all things up in the air, it is nice to have some close friends come back home and start a church plant. We have known the Jones for more than a decade and they still like us!  When Dustin talked to us about his vision and plan we were excited to support and help out. Its been fun watching as the Lord unfolds the direction for the church. We have been meeting at the Jones house for a month now and its exciting to see the people that are coming and the core that support it. Check out the website, and if you don't have a church home come check us out on sunday! Vantage Point Church

Whats in a name...

Image
Names are special. Usually the name u choose for your children has a story tied to it. Sometimes it's family members, other times it characters from books or movies. Both parents must agree. Kimmel and i were easy with Shepherd. We saw that name for another baby a couple years before and put it on our list. Then while watching Manchester United i liked Carrick. We investigated the meaning, Rock. So Kimmel was ok with it, and i changed it to a K cause we both had K initials and i wanted him to match. So there you have Shepherd Karrick Kimmel.  All thru high school i was just Susan, then college skeener, due to my email handle and everyone there found my last name fun! I went from boring Susan to fun keener. lol Kimmel had people who didn't believe him when he told him his first name was Andrew! That was his name Kimmel! Sometimes they first name isn't always what you go by.  We have friends, the Baloghs, that name their children after couples or families who have speci...

recommended weekend reading

In the midst of always writing about myself and our family i thought it would be good to shine light on other people and interesting things. Either blogs of my friends or books i recommend. This weekly little segment will be about that. Back about a year ago, we shared our journey about loosing babies, and wanting to have them with our cell. There was another couple there as well who had similar (but different) issues.  Our cell encouraged us and prayed with us both for direction and help. Right about the week we found out we were pregnant this couple felt God leading them to adoption. And just this past week of spring break their boys came home. The Pendes Click on the link above to get the full story. It is a great one! Its the weekend you have time. Read about the process and the fun. Celebrate with them!

This past weekend my friends and family gave us a shower for our lil man! We are about 4 weeks out and  i got really overwhelmed with excitement and the love from all these people i cried when i pulled up to my in laws house! I had to call Kimmel to talk myself out of it. But then my Texas Dad and Mom were waiting for me to coming is so He could say hi and i lost it! They are so sweet and special to me. It was awesome to get a great big daddy bear hug from him! These lovely ladies hosted it for me. They really did an amazing job and i was very touched! This was the awesome centerpiece Renee (texas mom) mad for us! So cute and i am going to use the owls again for some nursery decorations! :)  One really sweet person who came is Kimmel's Great Grandmother, Meme! She is our beloved 100 year old sweet prayer warrior! It was so nice to see her she doesn't come out much. We are very blessed.   Got our first cloth diapers :) My austin family ...

Cuties

This past weekend our friend Christin and her kids came in so she could celebrate with the senior girls she had led for 4 or 5 years who are graduating HS- the church had senior recognition sunday. Her son is good friends with my neighbors son and he just couldn't get enough of him! They were just running circles in our back yard and SOO happy. It was fun to watch.  It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but we had a nice time. Kimmel and i love having people over and especially lil cute ones like these. We watched the incredibles 3 times and enjoyed their smiles and laughs.

Fun work

The past two wednesdays are the first wednesday since our wedding two aprils ago that i have missed. The winter wonderland storm shut down Texas for a week and then came back for one last closing...wednesday. Before that i snapped some fun pics at work...working with youth keeps you young and fun...or so it seems :) Who could ask for a better job, after a decade of being here in texas and working with NorthWood i can't think of one...well maybe a stay at home mom! Praying that day is soon! Until then enjoy these pictures and stories! Jill was one of the first girls i connected with when i first arrived at NorthWood, she was in 8th grade. I co taught her group of girls and she held a special place in my heart instantly! She is funny and so energetic, you liked being around her, and she put up with my cheesy mom jokes! She mentioned just yesterday that we have been through many changes in life and remained close. A fresh graduate of Baylor now she works with us at NorthWood! We s...
