Green Tendencies

Image
The other day i had a friend tell me that i had green tendencies. She was referring to my recycle bin, my cloth snack baggies instead of zip lock, cloth napkins, and the fact that i said "i REALLY need to get a compost going i hate throwing all of this away or down the drain". Jill was saying that i wasn't totally 'green' just had some tendencies and this made me laugh. I try really hard to be a good steward of all that God gives me and not be wasteful or cause more landfill and save money at the same time. Another friend said he ranked me at like a level 3 'green' person. Level one is recycling, level two the snack bags and napkins, level three being the scooter. It just made me laugh that they were judging my efforts of being 'green'. I have aspirations of a garden, compost pile and cloth diapers when we have babies. (those suckers can save you $,4,000 and they are TOTALLY great now!!) Maybe the diapers would put me on like level 5! Well no matte...

Scarecrow

Image
Went to a pumpkin patch with a family to take pictures the other day. It was windy and we had loads of fun! Saw this scarecrow and thought he was cute with his lil face and hat. Then i saw that he had a name tag letting you know his name is Earl. Nice to meet you earl. :) The function of a scarecrow is to scare birds or crows from eating the plants in the field. It is scaring off the enemies of the field. While i was editing the pictures i was thinking, scarecrows and how metaphorically speaking i need to have scarecrows or traps for my enemies in my thought life, cause if i don't i can go down a sad and destructive thought path way. Especially lately for me in the promise of children and lack there of, work, and friends (how to be a better one, missing some, making new ones, letting go of some i thought would be). I am struggling with these and needing to pray pray pray about it. Thankful that Jesus never tires from hearing my heart and pain. One verse that reminds me to set ...

Chandelier

Image
I am super excited cause i made my first chandelier! I wanted a fun chandelier for our entryway but found that they were WAY too expensive...talking lowest price $200 something....I came across this lovely large bamboo lantern with a glass canister to hold a large candle. Not a huge fan of candles so i sorta looked on by, but the haunting $10 price kept it in my mind. What could i do with something like that? I kept thinking about it through out the week and just thought...its 10 bucks, that isn't too bad to just try something! :) So i got it and studied it and planned my idea. I threw it at Kimmel and he thought it sounded great. I talked with his dad and it was a done deal. A couple weeks later we were walking thru Lowes picking out all the connector pieces. Got the 3 pieces of glass for $3, got a chain to hang it on, ceiling cover, power cord, frosting spray for the glass, brown spray to cover some of the metal, lightbulbs and some screws, nuts and bolts for right around $50! ...

Photo session :)

Image
This morning i had the privilege to do a photo session with my friends the Baloghs. We got up early to use the new sunlight for pictures and had some fun times! They are a sweet family of 3 about to be 4! This is at the park that i mentioned Kimmel helped me scout out! They turned out great and we all had a blast!  Can't wait to sit with them and see which are their faves!

How to train your dragon

Image
One of the best films this year has to be "how to train your dragon"! It is based on a book and has such a great story! My husband was so sweet to remind me "go get your movie today it comes out on DVD" So last thursday or friday i purchased the movie from Walmart! This is huge for me cause i hate paying more that 10 for a DVD or CD...it was only 16! If you have not seen this movie you must rent it! If you have kids this is a must movie for them too! I would tell you all about the story, but i want you to enjoy every moment of the story! With the voices of Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill and Jay Baruchel, its a must see!

Another Reason I love him!

On saturday, i dragged Kimmel to this park that i had scoped out one day driving by that i thought would be an awesome place for a photo shoot. I had some friends that mentioned wanting to do family pics so i asked him if he would help me scout the place. He is so supportive and helpful when it comes to my hobbies. Not sure where this photog thing is going or how i will learn more, but i am searching and learning! He is the best and i love him for it!

Spooky things afoot

Image
The other night we heard a knock on the door...upon my answering there was no one there...just a plastic pumpkin filled with goodies and two pieces of paper. It said we had been "Booed". Something spooky was going on in our neighborhood and if we didn't want to get it again we were to tape the other picture to our door.    Since i couldn't find tape i used post-it notes...sad i know. haha There was a poem that came with it explaining how you are to make two more buckets/baskets, copy the two papers and pass it on by ding dong ditching them! I asked my neighbor and friend Kati to go with me cause Kimmel was at the football game. It was very exciting and crazy...i had never ding dong ditched...at least that i remember and i think i would remember something that fun! :) If you live in a neighborhood this is a great way to spread fun and get to know each other. I wish i kept a copy of the poem...but i am sure you can make something up that would be perfect! Happy sp...
