Our Sweet Shepherd

Feeling loads of sentimental feelings this week as our sweet Shepherd is 9 years old today. Where did the time go?? Don't know if its due to this last year's craziness or what, but I feel like drinking this in so much! Celebrating all the things we have to be thankful for in a big way! Celebrating all the sweet things he does. Making sure he knows he is so loved! We are getting him early from school and gonna spend some one on one time with this kid! 


Shepherd Karrick Kimmel is our oldest boy who stole my heart 9 years ago! We had two miscarriages the years before so his pregnancy was bathed in prayer and nervous excitement.  While carrying him I had to daily taking shots. I was on bed rest the last month and finally the last 2 weeks in hospital to keep my fluids up, which obviously kicked the stress level into overdrive! Due to all of the complications and to the fact that this stinker decided to be breech, we planned the C-section -February 3rd.


If you haven't had a C section, let me tell you, the first time is so scary! The OR is cold, bright and smells so strong. Everything is so strange and intense. I was so nervous about the epidural cause of course you hear all the horror stories about all the accidents or problems and more. Why do we tell pregnant people this???? Thankfully I was able to get one, no issue....then I just laid there and controlled my breathing. The best advice my friend Christin ever gave me. Focusing on my breathing 'talking' to the anesthesiologist waiting... waiting to hear the cry. 

Shepherd was a beautiful baby. We all say that about our babies don't we! No matter what, when the are finally in our arms, they are beautiful! We bumbled through all the firsts together and seemed to be ok. This little guy has grown into a happy boy who is thankfully, a great big brother. I gotta stop calling him 'little guy' now! 

                       



Shepherd you are a fun, spunky young boy! We look forward to the journey God has for you! We are excited to see the things you will love and do well. We are thankful for your kind heart and brave spirit! We love and cherish you!

Spooky things afoot

The other night we heard a knock on the door...upon my answering there was no one there...just a plastic pumpkin filled with goodies and two pieces of paper. It said we had been "Booed". Something spooky was going on in our neighborhood and if we didn't want to get it again we were to tape the other picture to our door.    Since i couldn't find tape i used post-it notes...sad i know. haha There was a poem that came with it explaining how you are to make two more buckets/baskets, copy the two papers and pass it on by ding dong ditching them! I asked my neighbor and friend Kati to go with me cause Kimmel was at the football game. It was very exciting and crazy...i had never ding dong ditched...at least that i remember and i think i would remember something that fun! :) If you live in a neighborhood this is a great way to spread fun and get to know each other. What's Next?

This week is the first week of a new schedule for me. I am cutting my 'hours' in half at work. This means i go from the 40 hours a week to 20 in office hours. I am excited to see what God has next for me. As most of you know ministry isn't in an office, but the office time was suffocating me. So now there is freedom, freedom to do what i am not sure just yet. I have mentioned before Andrew and i's desire to minister to our lil townhouse circle, so i am praying for vision and opportunity there. Being domestic and a untired, focused wife to Andrew is another desire of mine. Don't have much to say just yet...i am excited on this new adventure. I will keep you posted as God shows me what the path his he has for us Kimmels :) He is a good God and i am glad He loves me! It is for freedom he set us free. It is for freedom i cut my pay in half :) hahaha

always giggle

Since my sister's wedding when i was in 10th grade i have been in a total 13 weddings, none my own. At one point mom told me i needed to stop saying yes! I actually used two of the dresses twice believe it or not! :) It was a privilege to have girls in my wedding knowing that they trusted and loved me long time ago to be in their wedding and were willing and happy to come be in mine. This fall i have the honor of being in my best friend since 1st grades wedding-Amber, and Andrew's best friend's Kyle- we are both in that one! It is exciting to watch the stories unfold and share in their special day. I was at a shower for Maddie and Kyle's wedding this past weekend and i snapped a picture of this lil centerpiece the hostess had made. I thought it was really sweet and i had to share! One of the annoying thing about 'cute' couples is when they giggle. But its only annoying when you aren't that couple, minus public displace of giggling and such i find that aw...
