Slow Cooker Recipe

So i think i have mentioned before that Andrew's great grandma gave us this amazing slow cooker recipe book that i cook out of at least once a week, sometimes twice. This past week, i finally used some of the Ham my sister and her husband had sent us for christmas thru the Omaha Steak mail thing...totally wonderful if you ever want to send that as a gift to someone out of state!! Fabulous.

So when i was doing my planning for this week, i picked out a recipe that used ham, and this is the one i found and we loved. So i wanted to share. Unlike alot of the slow cook meals it takes loads of time, this one is only 2-3 hrs, so you can decide to do this on a whim...sorta :)

A friend of mine led me to a blog where the lady takes pictures of every step as she makes the recipe and i love it! I just wish i had thought of that when i made this :) The Pioneer Woman

Slow-Cooked Ham 'n' Broccoli (jill pennington)
3cups cubed fully cooked ham
1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped broccoli thawed
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 jar (8 ounces) process cheese sauce
1 can (8 ounces) sliced water chestnuts, drained
1 1/4 cups uncooked instant rice
1 cup of milk
1 celery rib, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika

mix all the top 10 in slow cooker, mix well; cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours or until rice is tender. Let stand for 10 mins. before serving. Sprinkle with paprika. ( i did it all through out it, but i am not sure if should have just been when you serve it... the paprika part confused me... Yields 6-8

Enjoy! :)

mm I'll have to try it out, I got a slow cooker for Christmas and brought it out to the apartment so this will go on the list!
I might have to try that...I love slow cookers but hardly use ours. It's so easy to use them, and they have such great recipes!
