As I get older I feel I loose some of my connection with the up and coming of music and clothes, I have to work harder at it it feels. So I tell you about this band hoping u too haven't heard of them til now, or if you do know them you love them! Two of my friends spoke at our youth service this past Wednesday which at the end the husband covered a song by this band...he did a phenominal job ...I had to check out the album. All my friends had heard of them and like knew a couple of their songs...i was left in the dust on this one hahahaha ANYWAY...check them out for yourself! They r awesome! www.gungormusic.com You can also look on you tube four some great videos. Look for "god is not a white man" by Gungor.

Slow Cooker Recipe

My sis in law -Paige- directed me to this great recipe sight many months ago and i have just now revisited. The thing i really like about it, is the ingredient tab and you put in what you have and they give recipes for those ingredients. I bought some chicken thighs the other day and i did that and got 2 great recipes and put them together!! YUMMY! But i give you this one today cause it is super simple and REALLY yum! Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves 1 (17.5 oz) bottle buffalo wing sauce, divided 1/2 (1 oz) package dry ranch salad dressing mix 2 tbsp butter 6 hoagie rolls, split lenghtwise Place chicken into slow cooker and pour 3/4 wing sauce and the ranch dressing mix. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours. (i did high for like 4 hours then turned it down til andrew came home :)) Once chicken is cookoed, add the butter, and shred the meat finely with two forks. Pile meat on hoagie rolls and splach with the remaining buffalo win

distortion

Sometimes in life things get distorted due accident or chance. Sometimes its done on purpose so you can get a better view of something familiar. Got my fisheye lens in the mail today and was super excited to play with it...i am not fully sure what i am doing but excited for pictures ahead!  I like the fish eye cause it puts a 'fun' spin on the view of the same ol same ol. Many times i feel like life is same ol same ol and sometimes i just need to sit upside down in my chair or lay the wrong way in bed just to view it a bit different.  Distortion can be a bad thing or a good thing. Sometimes our past distorts our view of our selfs and weakens us to do God's will. Today i heard of a popular christian man and his wife splitting up and it makes me sad and angry... that whatever distorted their individual relationships btw God now separates the couple.  I am praying that today we can focus on the future and not get distorted in the negative way. But keep all eyes on God.

Reading out loud to each other is one of mine and Andrew's favorite past times. When we were dating we read thru the chronicles of Narnia cause i had never read any past The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. They were great books and i actually liked reading out loud haha.  So the latest book we read is the first of a trilogy by Trent Lee Stewart. Kimmel's mom recommended the books and that was all kimmel needed to know it would be great. He checked out the book from his school library back in september or november and read some before we fell asleep...but i kept falling asleep too fast and he finished the book with out me! Over christmas we purchased the books and i am happy to say WE FINISHED the first one!!  The last like 3 chapters had me in tears of joy! He made me read it out loud this time so i wouldn't fall asleep and miss it again. So as i am reading i start to get choked up and can't read...so i take a deep breath and speak tearful words of happiness! It is

I have shared my obsession with HGTV and all sorts of design stuff. I have a list for each room of ideas, paint colors and wall trimmings. Its fun having a house and decorating it, especially with Kimmel! We are making our house an HOME, both by decoration and by prayer. Both take concentration, patience and hard work. Taking time to sit with Jesus to listen and obey doesn't come natural to me...my mind spins and i think of everything else some days...i have to concentrate and focus in on HIM and the goal of why i sit, to draw closer to the heart of God.  Making our building a comfy place to live is fun and time consuming but the goal is for people to feel welcomed even comfortable to be themselves. For our kids to bring their friends over cause they like it here, and when our kids aren't home their friends still come over! For our neighbors to wonder what makes this house different and ask questions cause they are comfy to do so. The author of Hebrews gives a charge at t

Psalm 62:5-8

Find rest, o my soul, in God alone, my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, i will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God He is my mighty rock and refuge. Trust in him at ALL times, O people; Pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Read and reread these verses this last week and just was amazed at the truth in here that everyone needs. We all need rest, hope, refuge...He has promised us these things when we put our trust in Him.

Snow Day...well hour

Image
Today we had some snow...my friend said we got the tail end of the storm...so not much at all. It was enough to get excited and hope for schools to be closed tomorrow. Our excitement was put to rest quickly when during our lunch at the Langford's Brenda says "that's it...it stopped snowing?!?!" To which all replied..NO!!! :) Andrew was hoping the school's would be closed and we would have a day together...cause the church closes if the schools close. Sorta praying for it to drop down below freezing to make it all ice...but that is kind of dangerous! Our Team has two cute girls that are the same age from two different families who get along really well, so i snapped a couple of them playing in the brief snow fall!

I have talked about my green tendencies and saving green- money- so naturally this movie caught my eye. You should watch the trailer its really great and a bit funny. The thing that really made me interested was the tag line..."A climate change solution movie [that doesn't even care if you believe in climate change]". Just made me chuckle...and one guy on there says "if you don't believe in the climate shift than do all this cause your greedy and it will save you money" AND there i a one armed Texas farmer who says "i guess you could say i have done it single handedly!" Awesome! We are using up resources and we need to find better ways to use the earth. Anybody want to see this with me?? :) Its only showing in Austin near us so we could go there or fly to NY or LA which would you like?  :) Check out Apple trailers they have it or the site

Schedule

One of my favorite things of college and grad school is the schedule. Really liked receiving the syllabi and marking my calendar when we had exams, reports or papers due. Looking over the next 3-4 months all planned and nicely packaged in between my job, church and hang out time. Its funny cause i feel now in my life that i don't operate on a schedule like that and i miss it. School definitely has a hand in my life still since andrew is a teacher. We get excited for christmas break and such but they are not breaks for me. Those actually turn into trips and stuff that we do with students. It kind of hit me this year cause i took vacation on the back end of christmas and the first week with andrew home and me working kinda was sad hahaha. Getting back on the schedule always takes a bit it seems...i love stability and schedules...andrew is so spontaneous and we make a great team i believe. I enjoy his spontaneity and it challenges me haha Sometimes i schedule away life so its nic

Kimmel and i drove to va this past week to stay with my family. The drive wasn't too horrible, 20 hours of driving with no wrecks, weather or crowded roads. The time flew by as i slept, tee hee. We switched off driving while i drove he slept vice versa. There are some things very vital for Kimmel to drive such a long distance... We got to spend time with my mom, sister and her family. Her four kids are always a blast to be around. We wish we lived closer so we could share life together more! Kimmel got to go skiing with our brother in law...and He was surprised at how nice they were...for virginia mountains. haha (i got to use my tripod Kimmel got me for christmas...really excited about that!!) Stole some time away to visit with my longtime friend Amber...even though it was only like half an hour it was WAY nice! Its funny how some people just give you a piece of home. The next day i stole more time from my family to visit with some dear college friends. The top left is monic
