Fall Festivites :)

Image
Sunday nights i meet with a group of Senior girls. We hang out, eat, do silly things, and study the Bible. Sometimes we do theme nights. With Halloween coming up we carved some pumkins! We did it last year and they wanted to keep up the tradition. So we went to walmart picked out some cute pumkins and carved away. :) We had fun, my is supposed to look like a cat...:)

Trip Home

So Thursday night i left Texas on a standby flight to Virginia. Mom had called last monday and pretty much said i had to come, so by the gift of God my friend helped me get on for cheap. You see my mom is packing up her house, the one i grew up in, to move into a beautiful condo close to my sister. She works full time and doesn't have too much help to go thru the massive amounts of stuff she has. So we went thru her attic, and threw away like 6 bags of trash. I saw some OLD clothes and toys i hadn't seen in years. It was nostalgic and learned that i cannot CANNOT be a pack rat! Hahaha and i know my mom had great intentions and its cool to see my old stuff, but its just way too much! Anyway i got some great quality time with her, my sis and her family! Max was flaunting his halloween costum, dancing to jonas brothers and had practice for soccer. Played guitar hero with Noah and Maria. I am not really that good and my wrist HURT after but they were real good! :) It was fun! The l

Here is my quaint little back yard. I really like it...simple a sweet. Andrew helps keep it pretty and nice. :) I like to call him my 'lawn boy' ahahhaha but anyway i don't know if you can see my little cat beckham or not but she is the black speck behind the hammock...she loves being outside. I am a little hesitant to let her just roam thru the neighborhood cause i know it annoys people to have random cats in their yard and stuff. But she is PSYCHO!!! i mean for real! So i think i am slowly going to 'let go' and make her an outside cat. I just hope she doesn't run too far off :(

reminiscent thoughts

Its two months shy of my birthday. Last year i spent it on the North Shore of Oahu, watching pipe masters. THE BEST BDAY EVER!!! I just received the monthly surfing mag and they are already talking about this years competition, Dec. 8-20th. So i started thinking about the quick trip me, Sadie and Alisa took just 10 months ago. It makes me a little sad cause it will loose its cool as the years continue on cause there will be new winners, new rookies and the forgotten years. hahahaha silly i know. I am excited to see how this years goes but it has a little less of my attention, cause this time it will be 'i remember that place', or 'i remember this'. Not like last year the excitement of I AM GOING THERE!! what are the weather conditions, how much will i get to see...will the waves be large enough. All that good fun stuff. So even though i am excited for the 08 pipe masters. It makes me a little sad that i won't be there this year. :( But i am very proud to say i have

water, food and love for the soul

Most of you know that i cherish the beach. The ocean and its magnificence, the soft sand in between your toes, the wind whipping thru your hair. There is no other place that feels like heaven to me. Nature in itself is such a refreshment for my soul. The past few days it has been rainy and cloudy. For texas that is the opposite of normal. Its been nice but hard to get out of bed. I love the rain! The sound, the puddle jumping, the smell. Its all just so refreshing. I have been keeping Kimmel's old camera with me this past week just snapping pictures of life as it happens, and i tried to capture the sun rise the other morning. Its such a pretty picture and causes me to pause for a second and think about God; His love, provision and protection for me. There are so many things that i take for granted or forget about that i have. I want for nothing. My soul has a moment with its creator and longs to be near HIM.

Soccer update :)

So we are in the fall indoor season now. We couldn't play our last game cause of the home makeover cause we all were so tired and wouldn't be able to win. Hahaaa But we have another game this weekend that we will be playing one man down cause one of the three girls can't play and you have to have three girls...anyway....i came across some pictures that Felicia took at one of our games and i wanted to share that with you. :)  Click on link below.... Soccer pics :)

monday girls

So a great fun part of my job is spending time with teenage girls. Sharing life, wisdom, fears, and truth with these girls. There are a couple that are near and dear to my heart. These girls actually like me and think i am funny and will listen when i advise them. :) Amazing i know but God still works miracles. So i wanted to share a couple fun pics...     Our monday nights consist of usually going to Chilli's walking to the sbux next door and goofing off there...sometimes target...then i drop them back at their homes so they can do homework or go to practice for their personal sport. Its fun and i love them!

Home Makeover '08

Image
It has been a great weekend. Our church did its 2nd annual Home Makeover event. We do outreach with a school in a nearby community that did a competition with their students by writing essays and explaining why they should get their home made over. It was a huge success last year and this year was no less. Friday night my small group with girls my age came and painted the rooms. Felicia, Sadie and Paige all helped :)  Saturday morning Andrew and I went back to help with yard work and decoration inside. My senior girls met me out there and they worked really hard.  While Andrew and the Seniors were out side, i got to hang sconses and curtains in the master bed room...i can hang type curtains now! rawr! :)

The Loop

Each week our youth group does the announcements via video called 'the loop' ....i actually got to do one....:) its brief but kind of cool...:O usually students do it but none of them were able to this week....just a fun tid bit :) Enjoy!

Free downloads

So i came across a free download of albums which is really cool...but the artist's say their names and the names of the songs before each song....so i guess if you have the equipment or time you could chop those off the mp3 but otherwise you just listen to great music that is introduced every song. :)  I downloaded Matt Hartke, a younger Jack Johnson. Its really good...he is opening for G. Love and Special Sauce now...good stuff. Check him out!  www.trueanthem.com (free stuff)

girls retreat wrap up!

Two amazing days spent with 86 girls and 10 lady volunteers. The girls had fun and seemed to really enjoy the conference. The ladies were super cool and totally went along with whatever obstacles or growth points came along. After it was all said and done Friday night one lady had 15 seventh grade girls at her house and she didn't flinch. THANK YOU!!!! Its hard to separate friends....when they come in packs! :) This was the second time i had put together a retreat type thing for my girls....and i really like planning and organizing events like that. I wonder if some where down the line God may open the doors fro me to do such a thing from scratch and do it at our Church and not have to go somewhere else...already have ladies in mind that would be an amazing leader team, student team, and speakers....we shall see! :) I am no resting on my hammock in the back yard enjoying the beautiful fall Sunday afternoon.

girls retreat

Setting up for a girls retreat this friday and saturday....have almost 90 students going! :) it was a crazy night last night as they mad rush of girls came with their forms and checks wanting to be added...so i went thru the crazy panic of where to put them for the sleep over....people dropping out saying they can't help anymore scramble to get that taken care of...transportation issues.....and loving every min! Cause that means 90 girls are going to have a fun weekend, hear God's word and truth about them and the world around them, while spending some worship time with girls from other churches in the area! Super exciting!
