Something a bit different

There is a restaurant down town that has the best bruschetta i have ever eaten. Taverna offers this awesome happy hour special -pizza's and appetizers half price! The Langford's introduced us to this and we love the great price meal and company. So when i hosted a Sentsy party i was searching for fun finger foods to make. Came across this great Shrimp Bruschetta! Sounded a bit scary...but it turned out good. If you have anything special coming up and want to try something a bit different...this is it! Shrimp Bruschetta Topping -Kraft foods.com 1 clove garlic, minced 1/4 cup Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing 1 lb. frozen uncooked cleaned small shrimp, thawed 2 green onions, chopped 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley 1/2 cup Crumbled feta cheese Basil and tomato TRISCUITS Cook garlic in dressing in large skillet on medium-high heat 30 seconds. Stir in shrimp and onions; cook 6-8 mins or until shrimp turns pink Add tomatoes and parsley; stir. Cook 2-4 mins or until heated thr

Disciple Now

Image
This weekend is our disciple now weekend...if you are a youth worker or pastor you know what this is! This weekend is like a compact camp. Its fun, exciting and kids love it! As leaders we enjoy it so much! Its a weekend where we get to play with our students, hear stories about God touching their hearts and taking steps to grow closer to Him.  The music is always amazing and i love having concert like worship sets...it something about them that i just get lost in the music, even if we sing tons of songs i know from days of old! Its revitalizing and i am looking forward to it! Its been crazy getting ready for it...stress all around as well anticipation of goodness! This year we have a local guy David Gentiles (pictured above) leading worship. He has lead for us one wednesday night so it will be nice to have a familiar face again. When you finish reading this will you please say a pray for our staff, the students, David Gentiles -worship band and John Thornton- speaker Thank you!

I have friends that trust me when i boss them around on which way to stand!  I have great friends for MANY other reasons..but this goes out to all you who have taken time out of your day to pose for me. I am very thankful for the fun times!  If you and your family want pictures too let me know :)  The Dukes let me take some family and kid pics..this one makes me smile...:)  Click HERE for some more of their pics!

Lil snuggler

Image
As most know we have a lovely kitty named Beckham. It was the first gift andrew gave me and she is a crazy, fun loving kitty who likes to snuggle on her time. There have been a few times when she has come up and sat next to me then bit me when i tried to pet her and i am like THEN DON'T SNUGGLE NEXT TO ME IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE TOUCHED! :) She sleeps beside me each night, unless she is gone out on the town with the kitties in the neighborhood. The other morning she obviously was way to tired to get up when both kimmel and i had gotten up and she looked so cute i snapped a picture...all tucked in. Was trying out a frame i purchased to use in a photo booth thing with her and i actually got her looking up...i think there were people on the field behind us so she was watching :) She is so cute!

come and listen

Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me! Psalms 66:16 Was reading this verse the other day and realized it was the verse that David Crowder song i love...it is peaceful and encouraging to me. Wanted to share with you! Share what God has done for you today with others! It spreads joy and peace.

Kimmel brought our favorite game...Settlers for us to play while waiting, his dad and gma took a turn, his dad turned out to be a sneaky competitor :) Ellie will soon learn how to play :)

My Valentine!

Image
Today is the day Hallmark has made famous for professing love. This is the day that people have strong feelings about. Some call it single awareness day, others go all out and crazy to show the one they love its for real! Cards and flowers are purchased all over the nation and world to say and display our feelings. I am excited this is my second married valentines day. We don't do anything big and plan to just spend the night at home. Its nice after all the years to have him! I am thankful for him in so many ways!  If you get squeamish or don't like mushy stuff stop reading now :) I just wanted to take this post to display why i feel loved and love this man named Kimmel! In no specific order here is my husband- - your tender heart that cares for others - your laugh that makes me smile - they way you say i love you and it makes me cry - the way you encourage me through life's ups and downs - how you squeeze me to where it almost hurts  - your understanding when my tears co

medial massage?

Went and got a massage with my friend Kati. Really needed it. I asked the masseuse to focus on my neck and shoulders cause i carry stress there...and afterwards she suggested i come back again cause my shoulders are in need! So is that something that is medical and can be used in a reimbursement program? I get migraines frequently....and i know when i get stressed my neck hurts! I really am going to try! If i can i will do it again and frequent...its for my health..and sanity! You should do it too! Massage Envy is the place we went too...not too shabby!

Fun work

Image
The past two wednesdays are the first wednesday since our wedding two aprils ago that i have missed. The winter wonderland storm shut down Texas for a week and then came back for one last closing...wednesday. Before that i snapped some fun pics at work...working with youth keeps you young and fun...or so it seems :) Who could ask for a better job, after a decade of being here in texas and working with NorthWood i can't think of one...well maybe a stay at home mom! Praying that day is soon! Until then enjoy these pictures and stories! Jill was one of the first girls i connected with when i first arrived at NorthWood, she was in 8th grade. I co taught her group of girls and she held a special place in my heart instantly! She is funny and so energetic, you liked being around her, and she put up with my cheesy mom jokes! She mentioned just yesterday that we have been through many changes in life and remained close. A fresh graduate of Baylor now she works with us at NorthWood! We s

Something you may not know

There is something about me that many people don't know. I LOVE CARS! Sports cars, pretty cars, fun cars! I think it stems from when i was little and my dad would take me to old car shows. I remember the ones at "bills bar b Q" and then one out in a field some where with TONS of old cars. Its a memory i never shook. I haven't driven anything really expensive or crazy. The closest i have gotten is to the eclipse, they are so light and fun to drive. A friend of mine even had the clutch that popped like in the movies...oh man!! SUPER FUN! So i have confessed recently that i am not as 'hip' as i used to and seem to be finding things out later than i used to about pop stuff...and during the super bowl i was pleasantly surprised to find out....there is ANOTHER FAST AND FURIOUS!!! Now don't get me wrong i hate all the girls dressed in nothing but the cars and the racing i LOVE!! Didn't see Tokyo Drift...cause really that is rediculous. But they have put the

actual snow day for kimmel

Image
We got a legit snow day! Kimmel and i were anxiously watching the news last night hoping to see his school district listed as closed....AND IT WAS! :) He got excited we jumped in bed and put a movie in to fall asleep to and did NOT set alarms! We woke up and cooked some bacon, waffles, eggs and hot chocolate and our neighbor's Kati and John joined us. We all watched "How to Train a Dragon" -myfave!- and then we went out in the blistery windy day to play in the snow. Kimmel made a sled....i'll let the pictures do the talking! :) Still learning photoshop but i figured out a fun snow like back ground :)  Our back yard is my favorite thing cause it has the cottage look to it :) SO this is our snow day...i am going to put a pot of water on and have some hot tea!! maybe hot chocolate!  Hope you are enjoying yours!  <3
