A new week

Its monday afternoon and the day is almost gone. I feel like mondays are spent planning the week away, or the month away. The downside as i have mentioned before is that if i don't feel busy i feel somewhat guilty. I need to pray that away! Just like the bear who hibernates all winter...i need to hibernate and recharge...do you think i could work something out with a cave in colorado?? the bears don't mind if i join them eh? :) Pray you are having a wonderful week no matter how busy or slow it is. Pray that you are being Jesus to each person you come in contact with! It is so exciting to watch him love on other people! :)

Sunday Night Football

Image
So lest i say again that Texas is football land...and men love it! :) so Sunday afternoon i got to spend time with some good friends and Kimmel got to watch the game. Chris and Felicia just got married in August and two of our fave people to sit and talk with, just don't ask chris to play monopoly he will take you for everything! ;) They had us, one of their good friends from high school(murphey's) and the Baloghs. (another of our fave couples to sit and talk with) I had been cooking some chicken and potatoe thing in the crock pot that afternoon so i brought that over for us to eat, chris and felicia had salad, the Murphey's had bread, and the Balogh's brought dessert! Baloghs and Murphey's have a girl each and they got to play together..it was fun...chris did a photo shoot with them both at one point....the screamed at each other, talked giberish, and crawled all over. It was cute to watch. :) Sadly the cowboys lost...so kimmel and anna were bummed...i chatted and

Moody Monday

Its monday....i am moody...the sun has come out....andrew has really bad allergies...i am tired. its a manic monday.

MAC a licious

So as we all know for years it been a battle between the Mac and  PC. Which one is better, which one is cooler, which one do you get to make a statement about yourself. I remember the first computer my mom purchased...it was rather big...and it was a PC. It went to college with me and i think it was that year in 96 that the internet just rocked. Got my first email with the college, talked on IM with my friends ALL THE TIME!! As the years progressed on there was this need for more computers, and we had several labs around our campus. One of the labs had all Macs in it. For designer classes and other things not real sure. But i happened upon that lab not knowing what i was doing, but scared to just leave the room of embarassment...silly yes! But i had sat down next to a friend Brian who grew up with Mac's and showed me how to get where i was going. I instantly loved it! I don't really know why but i did. Then the Mac marketing, putting themselves in all the movies, and tv shows..

Middle School Assistant Coach

Image
My husband the coach. He is helping out with football right now as the receiving coach. If you know andrew you know he prefers futbol, to football, but he is loving it! Last night was the first night for middle school games. C team played at 5, B team at 6, and A team at 7pm. I teach piano from 5-7 so i was unable to see my man on the sidelines cheering on the C team boys. He taped the A game for the coach and that is what the picture is up top. It was cool to see him so excited and share how it was fun to watch the boys get so excited and happy as they played. I got a chance to see one of our girl students on the 8th grade cheerleading squad as well, which was fun to watch her shine as well. As we left the game lil boys would look at andrew and say 'see ya coach' just wanting that recognition and love. He knew them and would chat with them. It just impressed on my heart how important his job is as well as the coaching time. He touches these boys life very briefly but can make

Great weekend...

Image
So the weekend was wet wet wet! Its great for the ground and all of our plants and flowers, and i totally enjoy it better than the hot 90 degree weather we usually have :) Super excited about that and the fact that andrew and i are flying to VA in Oct. for a short quick visit. (i need it!) :) So this weekend was really great...lots of emotions and fun. We spent Saturday afternoon with some friends that are moving. They are super fun and such a sweet family! If you know Andrew you know he loves kids and he just thinks their two lil boys and lil girl are too precious. I could hold her all day as she sleeps...but of course that is the fun of being 'auntie Susan' ahhaahaha We definitely look forward to visiting them in Austin! More on them at jenmcmanus.blogspot.com (or if that doesn't work the McManus blog on the right) After that we ended up meeting Maddie and Kyle for dinner and a movie. I suggested the guys seeing their movie '9' and we go see something we like you

Where were you when...

September 11 has now become a day when people remember something sad that happened to our nation. The conversations center around the lost people, and the grieving families. We either experienced it first hand or know someone who did it was that huge. It now falls into the category of one of those events where you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news, like the JFK assassination, Elvis dying and just recently M Jackson.  I want to stroll down memory lane and share with you. I was at SWBTS, just finished my 9am counseling class and there were people congregating around the two tvs in the lobby area just staring in silence. Me and my friends were like what is going on?? walked over and our eyes say the horror of the towers and our mouths dropped open in silence as we listened to the rest of the report. The rest of the week was spent watching the news in my apartment with friends just astonished and slowly finding out who was affected by it. Our church, like many other c

Almost another week...

So i was looking at my blog and realized it was almost a week since i had written again. The days blow by when you have off. Our labor day weekend was really nice and relaxing. We slept in saturday and i really can't remember what we did. :) Sunday was the usual church, but we went to lunch with some new friends and that was fun and relaxing! That night Kimmel had some 'boys' over for poker, and me and my friend walked around the neighborhood then visited our other friend that is moving in down the street! Monday we slept in again...he went and bought chickfila, i started doing laundry, cleaned the oven that i put a plastic top in friday!! augh! Came back we ate, he did the yard work, and i continued to clean. It was fun and productive. That night we played our fave game with his parents! Settlers :) It was a great weekend, leading into a busy week of meetings and fun things. We do our first OverTimeParty this friday after the RHS game we are super stoked! :) nothing real h

Abandon

Image
So last night we had our Back to School 'concert' with our youth, and it was ROCKIN!!! :) i don't know if you have ever heard of the band Abandon or not but you have to go check them out NOW!!! on myspace or facebook! It was really fun to have them here, they were great guys, really sweet and genuinely nice to our students. They led some worship time as well and they just were amazing! One of them flew in from VA and i was totally excited cause its been a while since i have been home. I asked him if the leaves were changing yet? :) They have been touring for about a year and a half now, they seem to love it! We will have them again if they need a spot. So if you need a band for an event, book them quick they are about to be signed and then their price goes up! www.abandonrock.com www.myspace.com/abandontx

Another Day in the Office!

As a student minister we get accused of never working. That all our job is, is to be with and play with students. Now i will be honest and i will say that is a 'perk' of my job. Keeps me young and fun but defintely not ALL that i do. As some girls and i were talking in my office yesterday, kyle (our associate youth minister) and Nick (a student) came in and started to entertain us. The video below captured only a minuscule moment of the 'perks' of my job!
